Title: DNA Technician

This position requires staff to be self-reliant; versatile; comfortable working in a military expeditionary environment; diplomatic; and effective communicators. This position is available immediately and involves 6-month deployment rotations in Afghanistan within a Combined Explosive eXploitation Cell (CEXC) Lab.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Examine, screen, and perform nDNA testing on items from rendered-safe IEDs.
· Collect, preserve, analyze and interpret physical data related to nDNA.
· Maintain the equipment and procedures in the nDNA facility.
· Perform analyses of nDNA for comparison purposes.
· Produce technical reports on findings and matches.
· Populate databases with comparisons of previously developed profiles.
· Provide information to assist in enhancing the ability to match nDNA.
· Maintain and document chain of custody of items and data.
· Transition next-tour replacement personnel on SOP.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
· Bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, or forensic science, with coursework in genetics, molecular biology, and statistics, and 5 years related experience.
· Experience with nDNA-related lab equipment, such as ABI 3130xl; Identifiler, Yfiler, and/or Minifiler chemistries, ABI 7500/7000, ABI GeneMapper ID software, and/or EZ1 robot.
· Physical ability and commitment to deploy to Afghanistan for a period of no longer than 180 days, working 12-hour days 7-days a week.
· Familiarity with CIDNE, WTI Lexicon and SIPRNET.
· U.S. citizenship with the eligibility to obtain and maintain DOD Secret security clearance.

HIGHLY DESIRED REQUIREMENTS:
· Analysts trained to competency in a state or federal ASCLD/LAB accredited laboratory.
· Recent experience as nDNA tech in forensic analysis for military/civilian law enforcement.
· Experience working in a JEFF, CEXC, WIT, C-IED Team, DTK Lab, TEDAC Facility, or other NGIC, DIA or ATF Lab; interagency or state/ local law enforcement lab.
· Prior U.S. military experience.
